Fridays with Nicole Sandler

Update: We’re going to do some house cleaning around here, with a refresh of the site in the next bit. One thing I’m trying to do is put up resource pages on particular topics, which will be available from the front page. You’ve seen me do this with the Hunter Biden and Jim Comey cases, as well as DOGE debunkings. Some will be more formal, some will serve to capture links and try to understand what we’re seeing.

Have a look!

Another great show, thank you so much, Nicole and Marcy. I look forward to this on Fridays after work – and tonight’s show, which I’m only half way through, is outstanding.

    Doozy

    I have got a chief-y
    let’s call Doozy,
    In the words of Shakespeare:
    she kerpows,
    Though all of you
    may know her, too
I’d like to spout right now:

    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
    Oh! Oh! What she’ll ensnarl,
    Ask Thomas Massey,
    And then Chuck Grassley,
    Oh! Oh! Even canvas Tallahassee

    Stephen’s reigning…
    she doesn’t balk,
    In this country
    Stephen Miller cleans my clock,
    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
    Oh! What she’ll ensnarl.

    Doozy has a rightwing adoration,
No one ever said she’d cop a plea
    Nobody knows
    what she’d disclose,
    Nobody knows, why me?

    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
    Oh! Oh! What she’ll ensnarl,
    My mother’s tresses
    as Freud distresses,
    Oh! Oh!
Will she build her own successes

    Out in public
    She’s a walk-on,
    Water-cooler: ICE-y link
    and war talk’s on,
    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
    Oh! What she’ll ensnarl.

    She’ll spend Sunday
    praising the Lord,
    But on Monday
It’s all Nixon and his Ford,
    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
    Oh! What she’ll ensnarl.

    I had some backlash
    On someone and her pup,
    Doozy’s got those lips,
    She parsed me once
    And churned it up.

    If you knew Doozy
    like I know Doozy,
Oh! Oh! Oh! What she’ll ensnarl.

      Dear SL,
I always love your work and know that this has a ton of backstory…so glad you stayed through the initial rough patch on ew. You are a gift…and this one is a
      …real doozy! ;-)

      • Savage Librarian says:

Thanks for your kind words, mamake. I hadn’t realized that Jimmy Kimmel had used that same word in a show before Christmas. But now that I have seen it, I thought I should share it.

I’m like Ginevra in that I struggle through the first half of January. So, I appreciate your reaching out. Now that I’ve made it this far, I’m thinking I might make it through another challenging year. Great to know we’re in it together.

With the piling on upon Walz with semi-real but grossly exaggerated fraud happening on his watch assertions, and Walz polling suffering from it suggests Klobuchar will run for Guv. She likely would win, and open the Senate seat. She’d be okay. No AOC, but keeping statewide DFL dominance where body autonomy is the law and respected. Klobuchar would gain nothing announcing now, and she need not, but expect it.

      EP,
your reading of the tea leaves is undoubtedly correct, although it makes me doubly sad/furious, that decent public figures are so easily smeared and taken out/take themselves out, of the running.
it does not appear that the governor has done anything wrong, let alone anything that even comes near to trump’s crimes of commission and omission.

      • misnomer bjet says:

On fraud, Minnesota AG Ellison, Walz, and the Mayor put it well at the press conference aired today:

If it was fraud they were after, it would be an invasion of forensic accountants.

Well done, but crediting Trump’s suspiciously shabby top-down running of our SBA when all that pandemic money was being distributed through it —without functional record-keeping (among other things) would have been the icing on the cake.

Thanks for that link to the original Bull Doze Blues. You’re absolutely right – it does help lower the BP. Have to think about what is important in life.

EXCELLENT broadcast. You two ladies are so up-to-date on current events. Your knowledge of details of current events on Friday during your broadcast is so spot-on, where most of didn’t know these details until Saturday, but would have known the details sooner, had we listened to your broadcast live on Friday.

Seriously, how do you get these details so accurate so fast?

  6. wa_rickf says:

    wa_rickf: Trump is a greedy, money-grubbing pig.
    vs
Marcy: Trump has a psychological need to steal stuff.

Marcy provides me a different perspective on how to view this topic.

  7. twaspawarednot says:

Speaking of both sidesism: This morning on NPR reporting about the killing of Nicole Good they said Kristy Noem said that Nicole was attempting to run over the ICE agents. NPR reporting then said the videos were inconclusive. I think B.S. the direction of vehicle turning is conclusive.

    • wa_rickf says:

There is video of the car tires turned to the right when Ross is standing near the front of the car – but off to the left side of the car and is clearly in no danger.

      • Rayne says:

Make a pointed criticism of the reporting on this ICE murder — call out the reporter in question and the host who presented it without pushback — but keep in mind it was NPR that reported on Trump’s desecration of Arlington National Cemetery using it for campaign purposes in August 2024. Other outlets only picked it up after NPR, and NPR continued to hammer on that abuse.

If we paint every moderately good outlet as a failure we won’t get the reporting we need.

Nobody’s stopping you. But you’re wielding an extremely broad brush on an outlet for a particular fuck-up when it doesn’t produce sprays of bullshit like NYT’s “but her emails” and “Biden’s old.”

Sure would have been nice to know going forward who exactly wrote that report you’ve attributed to NPR so we could watch for a trend. But… *crickets*

        • twaspawarednot says:

I heard it on the radio driving down the highway. I don’t give a pass for previous good deeds.

Your media consumption habits are reflexive. Hardly conducive to getting better performance out of media. In the future, don’t share a story for which you can’t provide attribution. You must not have cared much except for an opportunity to bitch if you couldn’t be arsed to nail down the story and share a link from NPR’s site.

  8. Sandor Raven says:

I had to write this, but you don’t have to read it (it is long):

Marcy has well-described the value in “peeling off” those who would otherwise be in opposition to democracy. Given the awfulness of what the government is doing to “We the People” on our streets, is it possible to “peel off” members of ICE and CBP? By, especially in the moment and face-to-face, appealing to their better angels, to their—our, shared,—humanity? By appealing to their sense of honor as something that is valued, something that one can do for and bring to their family? By appealing to the notion that one’s legacy should be cherished (Yes, Joni: “We’re all gonna die”)? By pointing out that the degradation of others, through the aggression and violence that has come to be expected of them, is counter to all of these?

“Killing them with kindness” might be the way to “peel-off” those ICE/CPB members who, with a gentle nudge, “I’m wondering if maybe you”might decide that even though “the money is good”, it is better to be (perhaps even struggling) at home with your family and friends. Anywhere else doing anything else (Venezuela!?), may be better than to be in the frozen north, falling on your ass on slippery sidewalks (causing inadvertent discharges of your/someone else’s firearm), following around Bovino and his—aggressive, violent, hair-trigger-finger, armed with assault rifles and dressed for Fallujah, etc.—wanna bees?

Would knowing that ICE/CBP seems well-integrated make peeling-off members easier? Would knowing that “there is no one more zealous than a convert” make peeling-off members more effective in future efforts to restore democracy?

Peeling-off might require a large net, so from my perspective, there should be fewer protesters yelling F*#k YOU and more saying something like REALLY?. There should be fewer choruses of “Whose streets?” and more of “Jesus Loves the Little Children” (I love that song) and “We shall overcome”. More of “I’m wondering if maybe you …”. And more “I’M NOT MAD AT YOU DUDE”. Now that is a legacy.

  9. P J Evans says:

The Felon Guy has set his attorneys on the Fed, because of claims (false, of course) that they have marble-walled private elevators and a private rooftop terrace.
The guy who has that stuff is The Felon Guy – and he thinks marble is appropriate everywhere, including armrests in theater and in bathrooms.
